Digital Surrealism Project?
For my Media Art Class We have to use each technique of surrealism to make a picture. We have to make 6, each using one technique the techniques are:
1. Juxtaposition: joining 2 images in impossible ways
2. Dislocation: removing an object from a usual place into a unusual one.
3. Transparency: when solid objects appear to be "see-through"
4. Transformation: Changing something familiar into something strange
5. Scale: changing the size of something
6. Levitation: when heavy object appear to float
Examples of each (in order) are a hour glass with ice-cream in it, a farm on someones head, playing cards that are transparent, turning hair into spaghetti, someone hold a huge tomato, and a car levitating.
Those were my teachers examples. I need creative minds and ideas to go off of. What would be good picture to design. Were doing this on photo shop. please help i really want a A.
Best answer for best idea!
Thanks =]
Without being offencive, the biggest part of being an artist is coming up with original and imaginative ideas yourself....Instead of using other people's ideas to get you started, why don't you go and get inspired (: Read children's picture books (the illustrations and simple storylines are good inspiration, Alice in wonderland is a good example of surrealism in children's fiction), watch a few weird films, go out for a walk and drift away into your own world, sit in a cafe and listen to the odd conversations around you, take some experimental photographs and work from them, link all the pictures with a common theme and that makes it a little easier. You could base them on a surreal poem? I find poetry an excellent source for art ideas, I once based a project around a Sylvia Plath poem (her work is amazing!). Or another tip is base them on a dream you had? Dreams are the epitome of surrealism! That would work well (: Research other famous, classic surrealists work like Salvador Dali and Edvard Munch and see what they combined for an unusal atmosphere.
Good luck I hope you get that A (:
